Our Commitment: Zero Telemetry

FoxTerm is built on the principle that your server infrastructure, credentials, and workflows belong exclusively to you. We operate under a strict zero-telemetry policy and do not collect, transmit, or store any of your operational data on external servers.

1. Data We Collect

FoxTerm collects absolutely no telemetry data. Specifically:

  • No analytics, usage tracking, or behavior monitoring
  • No crash reports sent to third-party servers by default
  • No connection logs, command history, or session metadata
  • No IP addresses, hostnames, or server fingerprints transmitted
  • No SSH keys, passwords, or authentication credentials ever leave your device

2. Local Data Storage & Encryption

All sensitive data is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's native security frameworks:

  • Secure Enclave Protection: SSH private keys are encrypted and protected by your device's Secure Enclave hardware when available
  • Keychain Isolation: Credentials and passwords are stored in your local iCloud Keychain, encrypted with Apple's hardware encryption
  • Local Configuration: Connection profiles and settings are stored locally on your device; iCloud sync occurs only through your private iCloud Container, encrypted end-to-end by Apple

3. Network Communications

FoxTerm establishes direct peer-to-peer connections exclusively to servers that you explicitly configure:

  • All connections (SSH, VNC, SFTP, Docker/Podman) go directly from your device to your servers
  • We do not operate proxy servers, relays, or intermediary services for your traffic
  • App Store transactions are processed entirely by Apple; we do not receive or store payment information
  • No third-party analytics SDKs are embedded in the application

4. iCloud Sync

When you enable iCloud configuration sync:

  • Synced data is stored exclusively in your personal iCloud account, not on our servers
  • Sync transport is managed and encrypted entirely by Apple's CloudKit infrastructure
  • Private keys are never synced via iCloud; they remain isolated to each device's Secure Enclave
  • You may disable iCloud sync at any time through app settings or system iCloud preferences

5. App Store Receipt Validation

For Pro subscription status verification, FoxTerm may communicate with Apple's App Store servers to validate your subscription entitlement. This communication:

  • Is handled through standard Apple StoreKit APIs
  • Contains only your Apple transaction receipt identifiers
  • Does not include any of your server data, credentials, or usage information
  • Is processed directly between your device and Apple; FoxTerm backend servers do not log or store these requests

6. Third-Party Services

FoxTerm does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services. The only external services interacted with are:

  • Apple App Store and CloudKit services (governed by Apple's Privacy Policy)
  • SSH, VNC, SFTP, Docker/Podman servers that you explicitly configure and connect to directly

7. Children's Privacy

FoxTerm does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or applicable age in your jurisdiction). The app is a professional developer tool designed for use by technical professionals.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
